        petro-link tank gauging

Petro Link

petro-link tank gauging has been developed over the past 10 years to enhance environmental protection solutions and applications in the Petroman I & II mold.  All installations are designed to withstand the rigours of the oil industry.  Enclosures are heavy duty steel with large displays to allow depot staff along with tanker drivers to access data and control systems easily and quickly without the need to fiddle with tiny keypads and toggle switches.

The petro-link field unit has large high visibility LED digits allowing for quick information access.  Control buttons for delivery pump shutdown and klaxon cancellation are equally robust.  All unit components are individually replaceable.

Features include:-
> 6 x 15mm high LED digital display
> Removable colour coded product label to allow for product changes without expensive unit change.
> GREEN delivery lamp/button.  This lamp must always been illuminated before a tank delivery can proceed.  If the lamp in off this means the storage tank High High klaxon alarm has been cancelled.  Checks must be made and the lamp re-set before delivery commences.  In the event of an overfill the Klaxon & Beacon can be cancelled but the delivery lamp will remain off and the LED sounder /buzzer located on the bottom of the panel will be enabled until such time as the level returns to normal.
> RED low level lamp/button.  This will illuminate when the low level threshold has been reached.  Pumps associated with the tank  will be automatically shut off as a pump protection from running dry.  By depressing the RED button the fuel pump can be re-engaged and run with caution until the tank is dry.
> The large RED LED/Sounder will sound in the event of HIGH level being reach during a delivery.  The high level alarm will sound at 95% of the tank capacity.  There is sufficient ullage to allow the driver to drain down his hose.  The lamp & sounder cannot be cancelled and will remain until such time as the level is reduced.
> The display will default to volume in litres but ullage can be accessed via the front panel
> Product height in mm can be accessed via the front panel
> Alarms tests and controls can be tested via the front panel keys by scrolling the volume display up or down as required.
>There is also an illuminated RED alarm test button located under the display unit.
>A RS-485 multi plug is located under the unit to allow for calibration purposed via a lap-top.  Communication via this plug can be run to a site PC with petro-link software running.

Tanker delivery procedure.

1/   Check product on bill of laden against petro-link product label and tank number.
2/   Check tank ullage to ensure there is sufficient room for load.
3/   Check GREEN delivery lamp is illuminated.
4/   Proceed as normal.
5/  If RED LED/BUZZER (95%) sounds stop delivery and drain off delivery hose.
6/   Should the LED/BUZZER alarm is ignored the KLAXON/BEACON alarm will sound (97%).  Delivery MUST stop immediately.
7/   Once the driver has stopped delivery he may cancel the klaxon & beacon by depressing the GREEN button.
8/   He will however be unable to cancel the LED/BUZZER.
9/  Recordings of any overfill event will be made in the petro-link history buffer.
10/ All tank history is recorded via petro-link every 15 minutes.

South London petro-link installation for 4 x fuel tanks.  Located above an existing fuel pump emergency stop button the unit is easily accessed.  Note the bold product labels to help prevent tanker drivers making a cross-over.  Left to right.  1/ Premium Burning Oil, 2/ Derv, 3/ Kero, 4/ Gas Oil.   Note the klaxon & beacon alarm in the top right corner facing the drivers rest room.  We know the driver should be attending the delivery while pumping off but night time deliveries rules are bent so by carefully locating  lamps and beacons spillages can be avoided.
